Improving and modifying helicopters for emergency medical missions for people.

According to General Narongphan Jitkaewtae, the commander-in-chief, Royal Thai Army has the policy to use the Army’s aircraft to support aeromedical evacuation both in peacetime and field. Aiming to move and transport the injured to receive medical treatment quickly, reduce the mortality rate as well as to increase the capability of the Army’s medical services to save more lives;
The Royal Thai Army has improved and modified four H145 light general-purpose helicopters. They are originally used in general administrative operations and are suitable to be an emergency medical service helicopter and rescue; due to their small size and mobility. They also can install medical accessories such as defibrillators, ventilators, emergency rescue tool kits, intravenous solution regulatory, and stretchers for transporting patients.


On 23-24 November 2021, the Medical Department organized the Aeromedical Transportation Training Course for thirteen Army hospitals from four Army Areas. There were eighteen operation teams, consisting of doctors, nurses, and nurse sergeants. The training contents were about fundamentals of aviation physiology, basics of air transportation, the use of medical devices in aircraft, patient transportation, evacuation planning, and coordination. Operation teams who participated in the training will be informed about aeromedical transportation guidelines both pre-during-post-emergency, also can evacuate and coordinate relevant units, support air transportation properly, and be safe for the troops. All H145 helicopters have been prepared to be deployed and ready to receive missions in various areas as follows:


1. H145/128 actives at the Army Aviation 1 in Lopburi province.
2. H145/129 actives at the Army Aviation 2 in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
3. H145/069 actives at Pha Muang Task Force in Chiang Mai province.
4. H145/080 actives at Anothai Army Aviation in Pattani province.
Therefore, people in the 17 Northern provinces can be confident that the Royal Thai Army by the 3rd Army Area is ready to support personnel and military equipment in all aspects to help people out of the crisis.
